Trevor Phillipe
Trevor is a saxophonist who hails from Columbia, MO. He began playing sax when he was 12 years old and continues to evolve his sound on multiple instruments. The start of his live music performances began in high school band, then jazz jam sessions at local coffee shops and private gigs. Although his music career is only in its first decade, he has already played on several of the largest stages in Columbia such as The Blue Note, Rose Music Hall, True/False Film Festival and is a two-time artist at Roots & Blues Festival.
Trevor began playing in Columbia with soul, R&B and rock bands, but since moving to Kansas City he has further dove into jazz, blues, funk and many other styles of performances and has established his presence in many music scenes in the KC area. He is now seen playing soprano, alto, and tenor sax as well as flute.
Trevor loves all genres of music; he appreciates any types of music where people express themselves to their potential. Grover Washington, David Sanborn and Tom Scott are some of his biggest influences. To Trevor, the best part of playing live music is “connecting with other musicians in the universal language of music.”
You can see Trevor play tenor sax with the Full Steam Horns! You can also catch him playing with other groups such as Luck 20, Blake Gardener and the Farmers, Samantha Fierke, The Whips, or many other local acts!
